After growing up in a rough part of town, George Maguire worked his way out of Manchester and to a career as a design engineer. Alexander van Amsberg, an architecture student at the University of Edinburgh, wasn’t the sort of guy he normally had explosive, hotel-room one-night-stands with. Alex was charming, classy, and, as George later learns, Prince of the Netherlands.

Fate brings them together again, and Alex makes sure to get his sexy stranger’s phone number this time. Despite all the reasons why they shouldn’t work, something clicks, and Alex thinks that this time, he might have found the right guy. But Alex’s aristocratic ex stirs up trouble in the press for George and his humble family, and Alex realizes he has to get real about having a boyfriend from the wrong side of town.

While George acknowledges his modest upbringing, he doesn’t let anyone insult his family. Life’s no fairy tale, and regardless of his royal title, Alex might destroy his one chance for happily ever after.

When Alex Van Amsberg hooks up with handsome George Maguire he knows he's in for a good time. After sharing a night of great sex, they part and do not meet again till six month later. By then, George already knows that the random hookup he couldn't forget is in fact royalty. Despise his prejudices they start a relationship which is not going to be always easy…
There's something about Anna Martin's stories. You may either love them or they may leave you cold. I'm on the group of the ones who love them. I can feel them. When reading her books, there are a lot of details which may not be that important, but they contribute to give reality to the story. There's no great drama, or breaking points, no epiphanies or extreme anguish. But I see Alex and George falling in love in details like sharing takeaway or doing laundry. It feels like real life. My personal experience is that falling in love is not a drastic event that changes your life suddenly. It is about finding somebody you like a lot, feeling a connection and then building something that may last together. There are some great moments, there is laughter and even adventure, but there are also some dull moments when you just go on with your every day life with somebody by your side, or not, as you cannot take your beloved to the office… Just like Anna's books, where humour mixes which hot sex, maybe some confrontation and a bit of drama but also with day-to-day activity… The kaleidoscopic mix of ups and downs and roundabouts that is falling in love. Utterly enjoyable

4.5-star - great romance! A well written story line supported by good character development. Good history and local Scottish flavor, fun facts, and a couple of truly interesting and unique characters.
I was shocked when it ended. There was so much more to be developed about their family and future. Enjoy what it offers.
This was a sweet, hot, uncomplicated opposites attract story. I really liked George, even when he was being stubborn!! I went into the book thinking there would've been more conflict with Alex's Ex and maybe hoped for it, but in the end I was glad it didn't because George and Alex had enough to deal with while working out their differences without making the conflicts too many and over the top.
Delightful British M/M story of two very different men who seem to be perfect for one another, if the world would go away. Our Prince of the Netherlands is Alex, 24, tall, angular, defined muscle, blonde, blue eyed student of architecture, getting his Masters. Big, strong, 28, George is a rugby player, engineer/helmet designer, and has a one night stand with Alex. That night rocks their worlds, and 6 months later, at a charity event their eyes meet again. Alex is charming, confident, and rich; George is not. The pull was there with more delicious hot sex, and George's first time bottoming, and other things, too ! This is a wonderful British tale of finding the "one" who is right for you. Of course there is family, friends and royalty to deal with. Their own issues derail things a bit, but love wins. Great characters, interesting plot, and hot sexiness makes this fun to read.
Highly recommend this well written story !
ENJOY !
Utterly charming read! Not a lot happens, not terribly angsty but loved this tale of Alex, royalty from the Netherlands and George, a rugby playing bloke from Manchester who meet, have a one night stand and then, through happenstance, meet again and then over the course of months, fall in love. George is not very out and has only been somewhat out for a couple of years (he is in his 20s). Alex is out and proud and owns his sexuality. He is strains against the conventions of his upbringing, lives in Edinburgh instead of England or the Netherlands. He is a sweet guy, does have a little of that privilege thing going on but you could feel his feelings deepen for George. George and his loud but loving family is just precious. So the book takes you on this road through their relationship, telling family members about their feelings, George begins to feel more comfortable in his "outness" and they fall in love. Lovely hotness between these two. Steamy bits. I think this is my first read by this author and definitely digging her writing style. Clear, English bits, but I can understand what's being said, and just so charming.

3.5 Stars

I’m laughing as I sit here trying to write a serious review for this book. I think I’ll keep it short and light.

Fact is, I enjoyed this. It was sweet, kinda fluffy, and kept me entertained.

The heroes were adorable and the playful banter between them was cute and often hilarious.

The sex…kinda hot, nothing outrageous, and sometimes very sweet.

The pace was mostly good. It had a few slow spots and places that gave more info than needed.

The characters felt real enough. Even the side characters of friends and family were entertaining.

I enjoyed that this was mostly regular, well-grounded day-to-day and not outrageous pomp and circumstance of royal hoopla. Because the royal aspects that were included…well, I couldn’t take it too seriously. Instead I just enjoyed it for the modern day fairytale it was.

The end felt a tad abrupt and I don’t feel like all of the loose threads were tied up. I wish there’d been an epilogue.

This is the kind of book you read when you’ve been bogged down by a lot of serious. It was a nice, light escape.
