Lord .Alfred left and stayed gone for 6 years.he took Elizabeth the wife of his groomsman with him. She deserted her son he his daughters.He came back and told Blair it was time to marry she did not want.marriage but with her father you did as he said. She goes to a masquerade and meets Lucas the man she is to marry. They are both attracted to each other but have no idea who each other are. He looks everywhere for her as he does glimpse her face. Her father and Elizabeth had been together for seven years as his mistress. I did not quite understand their relationship at times. He would beat her so badly had to take to her bed for a month sometimes afterward. She at first was person who loved the clothes and giving up her job as a servant.she left her husband and child for Alfred.He was her lover's groomsman.
